Warmaiden’s

Whiterun’s weapon and armour smithy near the main gate, run by blacksmith Adrianne Avenicci and her husband Ulfberth War-Bear, with a full outdoor smithing setup.

Warmaiden’s is the weapons and armour shop in the Plains District of Whiterun, just inside the main gate and across from The Drunken Huntsman. It belongs to Adrianne Avenicci, who works the forge outside while her husband Ulfberth War-Bear handles the counter. For a fresh Dragonborn, it is the natural first stop for steel and smithing.

What you’ll find

  • A spacious ground-floor shop with a counter, weapon racks, a big fireplace and a small kitchen with a cooking pot at the back.
  • Upstairs, a balcony leading to the couple’s bedroom with a chest, a strongbox and a business ledger.
  • Outside: a forge, workbench, grindstone, tanning rack and smelter – everything you need to level Smithing.
  • Display racks with iron and steel weapons (battleaxes, daggers, greatswords, a warhammer, a sword) plus iron armour pieces.

Notable items

A copy of the book Killing – Before You’re Killed sits on an end table in the bedroom.

Residents

Adrianne spends most of her time at the forge outside rather than behind the counter, so if the shop is quiet, look for her by the anvil. Ulfberth handles the sales inside and lives with her in the bedroom upstairs.

Tips

Adrianne and Ulfberth each have their own gold purse and partly separate stock, as long as they aren’t both inside the shop. When one runs out of coin, simply turn around and sell to the other. Investing in the shop or finishing Adrianne’s quest lets you take some of the displayed items off the shelves without it counting as theft. Ulfberth’s sales pitch is famously reassuring: don’t let the name fool you, there is plenty of steel for fighting men too.

Good to know

The shop is named after Adrianne’s childhood nickname – her father called her that because she was obsessed with swords as a little girl. You can also reach the roof without any tricks by hopping onto the smelter first. (Dawnguard) Gunmar mentions the shop when you ask him about buying goods.
