East Empire Company Office

The Imperial trading company’s closed shipping office on the Windhelm docks, run by Orthus Endario and reopened through the quest Rise in the East.

The East Empire Company Office sits down on the docks of Windhelm. The East Empire Company is the famous Imperial shipping giant with a reach across all of Tamriel, and this office was its first real foothold in Skyrim. Business was brisk for a while, competing head-to-head with Clan Shatter-Shield, but when you arrive the doors are effectively closed.

What you’ll find

Quests

Rise in the East – the company has offices in both Solitude and Windhelm, but the Windhelm branch is being choked by a pirate gang called the Blood Horkers. Orthus wants them dealt with so the office can do business again, and he asks you to help. Completing the quest is what reopens the office.

Notable items

  • Brief History of the Empire, Book I.
  • Report: Disaster at Ionith.

Tips

This is not a shop you visit for trading – it is a quest hub. If you are poking around the Windhelm docks anyway, pop in and talk to Orthus; the pirate-hunting that follows is a nice change of pace from tombs and caves, and you get the satisfaction of helping an Imperial business survive in the most Stormcloak city in Skyrim. That last part may earn you some looks at the gate.

While you are here, grab Report: Disaster at Ionith – a slice of Imperial military history that lore fans tend to enjoy.

Good to know

Clan Shatter-Shield, the local shipping family, was the office’s main competitor, so the company’s troubles were not exactly mourned in Windhelm.
