Braidwood Inn is the only tavern in the little mining village of Kynesgrove in Eastmarch, a short trek from Windhelm. It is modest, but if you want to meet the whole village it is the place to be: when they aren’t working at the Steamscorch Mine or in the fields, most locals end up here.
What you’ll find
- Iddra – runs the inn and sells food and drink. A room costs 10 gold for 24 hours.
- Kjeld and Kjeld the Younger – Kynesgrove locals often found here.
- Dravynea the Stoneweaver – a regular when she’s off duty.
- Ganna Uriel and Gemma Uriel.
- Roggi Knot-Beard – another familiar face at the tables.
- Food and drink for sale, plus a bed for rent – the basics, done right.
Notable items
The inn is one of the few places where the rare book Songs of Skyrim turns up, so it is worth a look around the shelves if you’re hunting it.
Tips
At 10 gold a night this is one of the cheaper beds in Eastmarch, which makes it a good rest stop when you’re mining or exploring the area around Kynesgrove. Visit in the evening if you need to find a particular villager – chances are they’re inside with a drink rather than out in the cold. And if you’re curious about the house speciality, even Delphine has a good word for it, which is high praise from someone with a lot on her mind: she reportedly praises the inn’s “nice, dark ale.”
Good to know
The music inside is not the usual inn soundtrack – it is environmental music, which gives the place a slightly different, quieter mood than most taverns. Fitting for a village that mostly wants a drink and an early night before the next shift.
