Lotus Extract

Lotus Extract is Muiri’s home-brewed poison, handed to the Dragonborn during Mourning Never Comes to help deal with Alain Dufont.

Lotus Extract is a poison with a personal story behind it. Muiri, once meant to kill Alain Dufont and Nilsine Shatter-Shield herself. She brewed this poison for the job, then lost her nerve. During the quest she hands it to the Dragonborn instead, suggesting it be coated on a blade.

Effects

The poison causes 6 points of poison damage for 10 seconds. It is not especially strong compared with high-tier damage poisons, but it is a handy extra during the quest it belongs to and works like any other poison: apply it to your weapon and the next hit delivers it.

Where to find it

  • Muiri gives it to the Dragonborn during the quest Mourning Never Comes; up to two bottles can be received.
  • Two bottles appear on the alchemy lab in the Dawnstar Sanctuary once its alchemy lab upgrade has been bought.
  • One more bottle sits in the jail of Windhelm, inside the middle barrel to the left at the bottom of the room, behind the torture rack.

Good to know

Muiri’s own words make clear the poison was meant for Alain and Nilsine, which gives this modest bottle more weight than its numbers suggest. It is light at 0.5 weight, so carrying a spare costs little. Between the quest gift, the Sanctuary lab and the Windhelm barrel, a thorough player can end up with several bottles in total. For heavier damage over time, see Damage Health poisons.

Where to find it

  • Given by Muiri during Mourning Never Comes (up to two bottles)
  • Two bottles on the alchemy lab in Dawnstar Sanctuary after its upgrade
  • One bottle in a barrel in Windhelm’s jail, behind the torture rack
