Morwen is a Nord of the Skaal living in Skaal Village on Solstheim (Dragonborn), but she did not grow up there. Her mother Bera was Skaal; her father Ulfarr was a Skyrim sailor shipwrecked on the island, and the two fell for each other and sailed back to the mainland together. Morwen was raised in Falkreath, spent years as a soldier and then a mercenary, and after her parents died she came to live among her mother’s people. By her own account it is the first place she has ever really been happy.
Where to find them
Until The Fate of the Skaal is finished, Morwen is one of the entranced villagers labouring on the structure around the Wind Stone. Once the Skaal are freed, she returns to the village.
Quests
In Morwen’s Request she asks you to bring her late mother’s necklace to Runil in Falkreath. It is a short errand with a long trip attached, and completing it is what opens the door to marriage.
Follower & marriage
After the Skaal are freed and the necklace has been delivered to Runil, Morwen can be married. Wear an Amulet of Mara and bring up the subject. Some players report that she occasionally fails to become available, or vanishes or refuses to move when sent to a new home such as Lakeview Manor, so it is worth saving first.
Personality & relationships
Morwen describes herself as born with a restless, angry heart that only fighting could calm. Life with the Skaal has softened that, and she now speaks warmly of the All-Maker and of the village’s quiet endurance – dragons, she shrugs, are just one more hardship on top of all the others. She is among the witnesses when Storn Crag-Strider reads the Black Book, and admits she does not fully understand what happened but trusts it was for the village’s good.
If you rescue Baldor Iron-Shaper in A New Source of Stalhrim, she is openly relieved – had he not come back, she would have had to step up as the Skaal’s smith, and she was not ready for that.
