Gharol is the Orc blacksmith of Dushnikh Yal and one of the three wives of Chief Burguk, alongside Arob and Shel. Her title is Forge-Wife, which means she’s responsible for arming and armoring the entire stronghold. She explains that Orc mothers traditionally teach their children to smith, and a chief’s second wife carries the Forge-Wife title in honor of that.
Where to find them
During the day she works at the small smithy outside the stronghold’s mine, usually with her son Umurn, who is her apprentice. She only trades while it’s light outside.
Quests
Gharol’s Message – ask her whether she trades weapons with the cities and she tells you about her daughter Lash, who left the stronghold. Gharol poured her shame and grief into a sword for her and asks you to deliver it to Karthwasten. The message is the blade itself – no letter needed.
Services
- Sells weapons and armor (base of 400 gold to trade with).
- Buys ore from the nearby mine at full price – and offers you work bringing it to her.
- Expert-level Heavy Armor trainer.
Personality & relationships
Gharol is fierce, proud and a little jealous. She teases Burguk about her forge-hardened muscles and pushes to take Shel’s place by his side at the feast – he tells her to drop it. Shel, for her part, complains that Gharol wants to send her to work in the mine.
With Umurn she is a tough-love teacher: she tells him to picture his enemies’ heads while he hammers, and when he grumbles about stubborn metal she tells him the steel doesn’t care about his whining. Both agree there’s no finer weapon than an Orc blade.
