Deor Woodcutter is a Nord of the Skaal who lives in Skaal Village on Solstheim (Dragonborn). True to his name he gathers firewood, but only from dead trees, because that is what the All-Maker wants.
Where to find them
He shares a house in the village with his wife Yrsa. During the day he lends a hand at the forge with Baldor Iron-Shaper. Until The Fate of the Skaal is completed, he is one of the villagers building a structure around the Wind Stone.
Quests
Deor is the way into A New Source of Stalhrim. Listen in on his conversation with Fanari Strong-Voice and you can ask him about the missing smith. He recalls spotting two elves far off, dragging something towards the south-west on the day Baldor vanished, and suspects someone wanted the secret of forging Stalhrim.
Personality & relationships
Deor is Skaal to the bone: the land and the water provide everything his people need, and you take only what you must. He frets about the ash from Red Mountain sickening the land, and he and Wulf Wild-Blood disagree over a great bear that seems to be watching the village. Deor wants it dealt with, while Wulf refuses to kill a beast without need. He is also among the villagers mourning Storn Crag-Strider after his sacrifice.
Good to know
Keep him breathing: if Deor dies before A New Source of Stalhrim has started, the quest can never be begun.
