Proventus Avenicci is the Imperial steward of Jarl Balgruuf in Dragonsreach. He runs the paperwork, worries about the budget and very much prefers that nobody upsets the Jarl – least of all a stranger shouting about dragons.
Where to find him
Usually beside the throne, in the war room behind it, in his bedroom in the back of Dragonsreach or eating on the Great Porch.
What he does for you
- Collect the reward for Whiterun bounty jobs from him.
- Buy Breezehome, the house in Whiterun, from him for 5,000 gold once the Jarl allows it – he also sells all the furnishings.
- He receives the greatsword in “Greatsword for a Great Man” – a job from his daughter Adrianne.
He appears in several main quests, from Before the Storm to Dragon Rising, and in the civil war quest Message to Whiterun.
