Madanach, known as the King in Rags, is the leader of the Forsworn – the Reachfolk rebels who want the Nords out of the Reach for good. He’s locked up in Cidhna Mine beneath Markarth, but prison hasn’t stopped him running his rebellion.
Personality
Shrewd, strong-willed and completely committed to his cause. Murder doesn’t bother him as long as it serves the Reach, and he’s openly hostile when you first meet. He believes, without a shred of doubt, that what he’s doing is right.
No One Escapes Cidhna Mine
Thrown into Cidhna Mine during the Markarth conspiracy, you can earn an audience with Madanach. From there you choose: help him and the Forsworn break out, or kill him and escape on your own. Each choice leads the Markarth story in a different direction. He’s essential until the quest is over.
