Shrine of Talos: Ilas-Tei’s Last Stand

Unmarked Shrine of Talos on a sandbar behind Ysgramor’s Tomb, where College apprentice Ilas-Tei met a sticky end practising Calm spells on skeevers.

Shrine of Talos: Ilas-Tei’s Last Stand is an unmarked spot on a sandbar behind the island of Ysgramor’s Tomb, on Winterhold’s northern coast. A two-tiered platform holds a Shrine of Talos on top and a rather grim scene below. Come for the blessing, stay for the cautionary tale about lab safety.

What you’ll find

  • A Shrine of Talos on the upper platform.
  • One living skeever to greet you, plus four dead ones.
  • The body of Ilas-Tei, an Argonian mage and one of the missing apprentices from the College of Winterhold, beside an emptied skeever cage.

Quests

Ilas-Tei is part of the broken side quest “The Missing Apprentices”, which you hear about from Phinis Gestor at the College. Don’t expect it to resolve neatly.

Tips

The scrolls give the story away. Ilas-Tei most likely used Fury to set the caged skeevers on each other and then tried to calm them down. It did not go to plan. The surviving skeever is no threat, so pray at the shrine, grab the skill book and nirnroot, and enjoy the sea view.
