Goldenrock Mine

Goldenrock Mine is a small corundum mine at Darkwater Crossing in Eastmarch, with four corundum veins, a silver vein outside and the Heavy Armor book Chimarvamidium.

Goldenrock Mine is a small mine at Darkwater Crossing in Eastmarch. It’s a handy stop for corundum ore and a free Heavy Armor lesson. Depending on how the civil war goes, the mine is held by the Stormcloaks or the Imperial Legion.

What you’ll find

  • Four corundum veins: straight ahead beside a wagon, another just to its right, one up the first ramp of the large room around the right-hand corner, and one on the west wall of the final room at the top of the ramps.
  • A silver ore vein outside on the left, if you swim upriver.
  • Several pickaxes lying around, plus a single bedroll.
  • A family of miners living in the house next door, including Annekke Crag-Jumper.

Quests

  • Sondas Drenim warns about the dangers of deep mines and asks you to deliver his note to Quintus Navale in Windhelm.
  • Talk to Annekke for a miscellaneous job killing a bandit leader.

Tips

Corundum is the steel ingredient everyone forgets until a recipe asks for it, so four veins in one small mine is a nice haul. Grab the skill book first, mine on your way out, and save the swim for the silver vein if you don’t mind wet boots.
