Resist Fire Potions

Resist Fire potions cut incoming fire damage by 20 to 50 percent for 60 seconds, ideal against fire-breathing dragons and flame mages.

Resist Fire potions reduce the fire damage you take for 60 seconds. They are the obvious answer to fire-breathing dragons and enemy mages who rely on fire spells. The four tiers range from 20% to 50% resistance, enough to take a real bite out of a fire-heavy fight.

All tiers

Name Effect Value Weight Form ID
Potion of Resist Fire Resist 20% of fire damage for 60 seconds 96 0.5 00039b4a
Draught of Resist Fire Resist 30% of fire damage for 60 seconds 151 0.5 0003eae9
Philter of Resist Fire Resist 40% of fire damage for 60 seconds 207 0.5 00039b4b
Elixir of Resist Fire Resist 50% of fire damage for 60 seconds 265 0.5 0003eaef

Where to find them

These are common leveled potions found as loot and sold by vendors who deal in potions. Since many potions scale with the Dragonborn, the Philter and Elixir become easier to come by at higher levels.

Brewing your own

With the Alchemy skill you have plenty of options, since many ingredients carry Resist Fire:

Ashen Grass Pod also carries the effect. Mixing it with any of the ingredients above produces a noticeably stronger Resist Fire potion, comparable in grade to a Fortify Restoration or Fortify Illusion potion.

Tips

Snowberries and Elves Ear are easy to gather and both resist fire, so they make a cheap starter pair. If you also face frost-breathing dragons, carry Resist Frost potions too, because you will rarely know in advance which breath a dragon uses.

Where to find it

  • Found as leveled loot throughout Skyrim.
  • Sold by vendors who stock potions.
  • Brewed at an alchemy lab with ingredients that have Resist Fire.
