Skooma is a notorious narcotic refined from Moon Sugar. It is highly addictive, sending users through spells of euphoria followed by long stretches of lethargy, and Khajiit are known both for producing and selling it and for handling it better than other races. In game terms it is a simple drink that restores a little stamina, but it ties into several stories of addiction and smuggling across the province.

Skooma cannot be produced at an alchemy lab. Stronger variants exist too, including Double-Distilled Skooma and Redwater Skooma.
Where to find it
- Most Khajiit caravans sell it, and Enthir at the College of Winterhold sometimes has some.
- Random dealers on the road offer it. Asking whether it is legal makes them attack, and their bodies can be looted afterwards, sometimes with Sleeping Tree Sap as well.
- Bandit camps occasionally hold it, including a camp under a rock overhang below Dragonsreach, on the way north toward Halted Stream Camp.
- Fixed spots: Fort Dunstad (commander’s quarters), a barrel outside Ustengrav, Liar’s Retreat behind the bar, Septimus Signus’s Outpost (taking them is theft), the Thaumaturgist’s Hut in Morthal, Orphan’s Tear, the Falmer torture room in Alftand, Bristleback Cave (Dragonborn) and Castle Volkihar (Dawnguard).
- In Riften, bottles lie in Beggar’s Row, under a bed in The Pawned Prawn and in the Riften Warehouse during Skooma Trade.
- Cragslane Cavern has some once Skooma Trade has begun.
- M’aiq the Liar carries three bottles that can be pickpocketed.

Skooma plays a part in Skooma Trade and in No One Escapes Cidhna Mine. Inside the mine, prisoners can be bribed, brawled or persuaded into handing it over, and a bottle traded to Borkul the Beast gets Madanach‘s cell opened.
Good to know
Several characters struggle with addiction, among them Wujeeta, J’darr, Niluva Hlaalu and Stands-In-Shallows. Septimus Signus keeps empty bottles in his cupboard, though his strange behaviour comes from reading an Elder Scroll.
