Redwater Skooma

A stronger, red-tinted Skooma from the Dawnguard add-on, restoring 40 Stamina while blurring and slowing the drinker. Found only in Redwater Den.

Redwater Skooma is the Dawnguard add-on’s darker take on the familiar drug. It is a newer, stronger brew than ordinary Skooma, sold in a similar bottle that is coloured red and closed with a flat cork instead of a rounded one. The stuff is tied to Redwater Den, a skooma den where an unwary customer can end up in far worse trouble than a hangover.

Effects

  • Restores 40 points of Stamina.
  • Slows your movement.
  • Turns the world red and purple and blurs your vision for the duration.

Like all potions it weighs 0.5.

Where to find it

Redwater Skooma can only be found in Redwater Den. After the quest The Bloodstone Chalice is finished, a single bottle reappears behind the front desk roughly once a week, so a patient player can slowly build a small supply.

Related quest

During The Bloodstone Chalice, or if you stumble into the den before the quest, the dealer offers you a taste. Accepting knocks the Dragonborn out in a booth, and you wake later in a cell where a vampire is in the middle of enthralling you, although you do not become a vampire yourself. In fact, the first sip of Redwater Skooma knocks you out right away if nobody nearby is hostile, which is unusual for any potion.

Good to know

  • Its effects closely mirror Sleeping Tree Sap, except that it restores Stamina rather than raising Health. A bottle of the sap can also be found inside Redwater Den.
  • The movement slowdown makes it a poor choice mid-combat despite the generous Stamina restore.

Where to find it

  • Redwater Den only
  • After The Bloodstone Chalice, one bottle respawns behind the front desk about once a week

Lore notes

A newer, more potent version of Skooma found only in Redwater Den, where drinking it can leave the Dragonborn waking in a cell with a vampire (Dawnguard).
