Spiced Beef

Spiced Beef is a unique Skyrim quest item that Banning in Markarth asks you to deliver to Voada; its secret ingredient is darker than it seems.

Spiced Beef is a one-off package of seasoned meat in Skyrim. It belongs to Banning, the dog trainer at Markarth Stables who sells the war dog Vigilance, and it plays a part in a small delivery errand in Markarth.

Effects

If eaten, it restores 5 Health – a simple instant restore and nothing more.

Where to find it

Ask Banning how long he has been training dogs and he remembers a delivery he still has to make for Voada in Understone Keep. Agree to help and he gives you the Spiced Beef. Bring it to Voada and she pays you 500 gold, adding that you might spend it on the dog.

After the handover the beef stays in Voada’s inventory, so it can be taken back with Pickpocket.

Good to know

Spoiler: the meat is not beef at all. Banning is one of Namira’s cannibals, and once you have finished the Daedric quest The Taste of Death, asking him about the delivery makes him admit that you now know his secret ingredient – human flesh.

Where to find it

  • Given by Banning at Markarth Stables for delivery to Voada in Understone Keep.
  • Voada pays 500 gold; the beef can be pickpocketed back from her.
