Elmus is a Nord warrior of the Thirsk Mead Hall on Solstheim (Dragonborn). Technically he’s a fighter, but his real passion is the hall’s creature comforts: the food, the stories and above all the mead, which he brews himself. As he puts it, someone has to keep the place from feeling cold.
Where to find them
When you first meet him, rieklings have driven the Nords out of their hall and Elmus is camping with the other exiles at Bujold’s Retreat. If you help win the hall back, he moves home to Thirsk.
Quests
In Retaking Thirsk he joins the other warriors in clearing the rieklings out of the hall. Side with the riekling chief in The Chief of Thirsk Hall instead, and Elmus is one of the Nords you’re asked to kill.
While in exile, ask him what would make life better and you get Elmus’ Mead: sneak into the occupied hall and bring back a bottle of Ashfire Mead, the local specialty. Once Thirsk is retaken, ask about the mead and he starts Elmus’ Berries, asking for some juniper berries from Skyrim to give his next batch a tart, rounder flavour.
Services
The game data places Elmus in a merchant faction with his own services faction, so he can be traded with, though the sources don’t spell out his stock.
Personality & relationships
Elmus started brewing because the East Empire Company got greedy with its prices on imported mead from Skyrim. Kuvar loves to needle him about skipping hunts, but even he grudgingly admits the mead is good. Elmus is fond of Bujold; if she ends up banished, he’s sad but confident she’ll be fine.
