Kuvar is a Nord warrior of Thirsk Mead Hall on Solstheim (Dragonborn) and the husband of its chief, Bujold. He belongs to the tradition founded long ago by Hrothmund, who left the Skaal to live as the Nords of old: hunting, fighting and following the strongest among them. Kuvar himself is blunt about the Skaal’s nature talk, calling it nonsense.
Where to find them
When you first meet him, the Thirsk Nords have been driven out of their hall by rieklings and are camping in exile down by the water, ashamed that they grew soft enough to lose their home. Once the hall is retaken, he lives there again.
Quests
In Retaking Thirsk he fights alongside you to reclaim the hall. How he treats you afterwards depends on what happens to Bujold at Hrothmund’s Barrow. If she survives, he is warm and talks about rebuilding. If you tell him Hrothmund rejected her, he confronts her and sends her into the wilds to earn back her honour. If she dies and you admit to killing her in self-defence, he lets it slide once but warns you to keep away, and if you expose her lie he will refuse to speak to you.
In The Chief of Thirsk Hall, the riekling chief’s final task requires killing him along with the hall’s former residents.
Services
Kuvar trains Heavy Armor at master level, up to 90.
Personality & relationships
He is the restless one of the exiles, pushing Bujold to act instead of waiting, while also suggesting their seaside camp could grow into something decent. He treats Elmus with gruff affection, urging him to join hunts and grudgingly admitting the mead he saved tastes good. Honour matters to him above all, which is why Bujold’s deception hits him so hard.
