Brodir Grove

Reaver-held grove of petrified heroes north-east of Raven Rock, home to the respawning Stormfang greatsword, a boss chest and an East Empire pendant.

Brodir Grove is a small landmark on Solstheim, added with the Dragonborn expansion. It lies inland north-east of Raven Rock, in the island’s south-western reaches, and these days it is held by a band of Reavers who are not keen on visitors. Come for the loot, stay for the strangely tragic stone pillars – and for a unique greatsword that has a habit of coming back.

What you’ll find

  • Reavers of several ranks: regular Reavers, Reaver Marauders and a Reaver Lord. They respawn after a few days, so the grove never stays quiet for long.
  • Stone pillars standing in the grove – once three warriors, Erlendr, Hunroor and Nikulas, who were betrayed by a man named Grimkell and turned to stone on this very spot.
  • Three Heart Stone deposits, handy if you’re planning to do anything with Solstheim’s local smithing materials.
  • A boss-level chest with leveled loot beside one of the pillars.
  • An East Empire Company Strongbox.

Quests

One of the East Empire Pendants for Fethis Alor in Raven Rock is hidden here, making the grove a stop on Pain in the Necklace. Grab the strongbox while the Reavers are lying down.

Notable items

  • Stormfang – a unique steel greatsword with a shock enchantment.
  • Boss chest with leveled loot near the pillars.
  • East Empire Company Strongbox (pendant inside for the quest).

Tips

Because both the Reavers and Stormfang respawn after a few days, the grove doubles as a recurring shopping trip: clear it, sell the spare greatsword, come back later and repeat. The Reaver Lord is the one to focus first; the rest are much less trouble once he drops. Mine the Heart Stone deposits after the fight rather than during it – pickaxe swinging is a poor defensive stance.

Good to know

The three petrified warriors aren’t strangers if you’ve finished the main quest: Erlendr, Hunroor and Nikulas turn up among the Heroes of Sovngarde in the Hall of Valor in Sovngarde. Clearly being turned into a pillar wasn’t the end of their story.
