The Wooden Mask is the odd one out among the dragon priest masks. It is a light helmet with an armor rating of 1 and a weight of 2, and its enchantment, Bromjunaar’s Mystery, does nothing except show a message that the mask hums with an unfamiliar energy. Don’t let that fool you, though: this humble piece of carved wood is the key to the most famous mask in the game, Konahrik.
How to get it
Travel to Labyrinthian, the ruins of the old dragon cult city of Bromjunaar. Just east of the main entrance is a small, decrepit central barrow called Bromjunaar Sanctuary. Walk in and follow the path around. You will find the mask near some skeletal remains, next to a mysterious note. That is it, no boss fight required.
What does it do?
Put the mask on while you are inside the barrow, and you are sent back in time to the sanctuary as it was before it fell. The centerpiece is the restored dragon priest shrine, with busts of the eight named dragon priests. Place each of their masks on the matching bust: Volsung, Vokun, Otar, Morokei, Rahgot, Nahkriin, Hevnoraak and Krosis. When all eight are in place, Konahrik is revealed, and you can then take the other masks back. To leave the sanctuary, simply take the wooden mask off.
Is it worth wearing?
Not in any normal sense. The armor rating is barely there and the enchantment has no effect, so it belongs in your inventory, not on your head. You can visit the restored shrine early to see which busts are waiting, and come back as you collect masks. Keep it until you have Konahrik; after that it is a nice souvenir for a display case.
Good to know
- The restored shrine can only be reached by wearing the mask inside the barrow.
- You can visit with only some masks and add the rest later.
