Rorik is a Nord landowner and the man in charge of Rorikstead, the little farming village that carries his name. Most of the fields you see around the place belong to him. Despite being the boss, he is not much of a people person: ask him for anything and he will politely point you towards Jouane Manette, who handles the village’s dealings with outsiders.
Where to find them
Rorik shares Rorik’s Manor with Jouane. It is the northernmost building in Rorikstead, so if you walk in from the road you can’t really miss it.
Quests
Rorik has no quest of his own, but he can pop up as a target in radiant jobs for the Companions. In Hired Muscle you may be sent to rough him up in a fistfight, and in Rescue Mission he can be the hostage you need to pull out of Redoran’s Retreat.
Personality & relationships
Rorik is a bit of a gloomy old soul. In his own telling he was once strong, commanding and young, and the years since the war have worn all of that down, his charm included. During the Great War he served as a Legate with the Imperial Legion, leading a few dozen men, most of them levies from the surrounding villages. An Aldmeri soldier ran him through and left him for dead, and it was Jouane, a Breton healer, who saved his life. The two have been inseparable friends ever since, and Rorik speaks of him as a genuine miracle worker.
He bought up most of his land while his comrades were still fighting in the south, back when nothing grew here and the soil was considered worthless. Hard work and, as he puts it, the gods’ blessing turned it into prosperous farmland. These days he worries about the civil war: with fewer soldiers on the roads, bandits and beasts grow bolder, and a village full of food stores starts to look like a tempting target.
Good to know
Rorikstead is far older than Rorik himself. A settlement called Rorik’s Steading stood here back in the First Era, and Rorik refounded it after the war.
