Orphan’s Tear

Wrecked ship on the northern coast northwest of Fort Hraggstad, where three bandits have set up camp beside the hull among chests, nirnroot and barnacles.

Orphan’s Tear is a shipwreck stranded on the coast northwest of Fort Hraggstad, which itself lies west of Solitude. A small crew of bandits has decided the wreck makes a fine waterfront property and camped right next to it. It is a small, quick stop – ideal if you are exploring the coast and want a bit of loot and some alchemy ingredients without committing to a full dungeon.

What you’ll find

  • Three bandits: two who prefer swords and axes and one mage who prefers setting you on fire from a distance.
  • The wreck itself, with a cabin you can poke around in.
  • Three chests with random loot and a few random potions.
  • Two Skooma bottles on the cabin floor near a bedroll, which may explain how the ship ended up here.
  • Two nirnroot plants on small islands nearby – one directly northeast and another roughly to the northwest.
  • Lots of Nordic barnacles and a few clams along the shoreline.

Notable items

  • Three random-loot chests.
  • Nirnroot and Nordic barnacles for alchemists.

Tips

Take out the mage first; the two melee bandits are much less dangerous once nobody is lobbing spells from behind them. Archers can pick them off from the rocks before they close in. Afterwards, do not skip the little islands – nirnroot is always worth a swim, and you can harvest barnacles on the way. If you are heading past Fort Hraggstad anyway, this makes a nice detour on the way to the far western coast.
