Evergreen Grove is what happens when nature wins: an ancient Nordic barrow that collapsed and flooded until it became a quiet pond fed by a little stream. You’ll find it in the woods northwest of Falkreath. It looks like the perfect picnic spot, right up until the spriggans step out of the trees.
What you’ll find
- Spriggans, including a Spriggan Matron, who treat the grove as their personal garden. Bears roam the area too.
- An altar in the middle of the pond with a dead Dunmer alchemist sprawled over it. His body may carry a Daedra Heart or another rare ingredient.
- Alchemist’s Camp – follow the stream uphill past the waterfall to reach the camp the unlucky alchemist set up before he died.
- A small fishing spot: Abecean Longfin, Cyrodilic Spadetail and Histcarp swim in the pond.
Notable items
- Alchemy skill book Mannimarco, King of Worms – somewhere in or around the pond, near the dead alchemist.
- A well-stocked herb garden: Nirnroot (one at the pond’s edge and three more further up the stream), Blue, Purple and Red Mountain Flower, and Thistle Branch in the surrounding woods.
- Taproot from the spriggans, plus butterflies and dragonflies around the flowers. At night, luna moths and torchbugs come out to play.
Tips
Deal with the spriggans (and any bears) first, so clear them out before you start wading around for flowers. Once the grove is quiet, it is one of the better ingredient runs in the area – especially that cluster of Nirnroot along the stream. Bring a weapon, a full inventory of empty space and a little respect for the late alchemist, who clearly picked the wrong neighbourhood for his research.
Good to know
The pond sits on top of the ruins of a Nordic barrow, which explains the oddly placed altar in the water.
