Broken Tower Redoubt

Forsworn fortress east of Karthwasten where the kidnapped Sybil of Dibella is held, led by a Briarheart and stocked with two skill books and a Dibella shrine.

Broken Tower Redoubt is a Forsworn fortress built into a battered old tower, far northeast of Markarth and east of Karthwasten. Forsworn hold both the inside and the outside, and they are not shy about it. Plenty of quests send you here, most famously the rescue of the newly chosen Sybil of Dibella.

What you’ll find

  • Several kinds of Forsworn spread over multiple levels, with a Forsworn Briarheart in charge.
  • Fjotra, held captive here during The Heart of Dibella.
  • A grindstone and cooking spot on an upper outdoor area near a tent.
  • A Shrine of Dibella – fitting, given who is locked up here.

Quests

  • The Heart of Dibella – the new Sybil of Dibella has been kidnapped by the Forsworn and is held in this fortress.
  • Jarl Igmund may post a bounty on the Forsworn leader here, usually the Briarheart, as part of earning his thaneship.
  • The House of Horrors – Logrolf the Willful may be caged in the western tower.
  • Possible location for Lisbet’s missing shipment and for The Forgemaster’s Fingers.

Notable items

  • The Mirror – Block skill book on a shelf in the big round bedchamber on the second floor.
  • Liminal Bridges – Conjuration skill book on the Briarheart’s table.
  • A Dibella statue behind a barrel on the second floor of the first large chamber.

Tips

Want to skip some of the climb? You can reach the top level by scrambling down the mountain behind the fortress instead of fighting floor by floor.

Since several radiant quests can point here, check your journal before you go – one clearing can cover more than one job.

If you have both The Heart of Dibella and The House of Horrors running, Fjotra and Logrolf can end up sharing the same cell – an awkward roommate situation you can fix with one rescue trip.

Good to know

Apart from the Briarheart, every Forsworn in the redoubt is female.
