Bleakwind Bluff is a small side fort built around an old tower, sitting west of Lund’s Hut and Rorikstead. It lies in Forsworn country, so expect a hostile welcome. It isn’t a sprawling dungeon – more a quick stop on the way somewhere else – but it has a hagraven to deal with, a skill book worth grabbing, and it can turn up as the target of a couple of item-hunting quests.
What you’ll find
- A compact fort and tower occupied by Forsworn – technically a fort, practically a tower with ambitions.
- A hagraven, who is the main threat here.
- The Two-Handed skill book King, inside the tower near a pile of stones.
Quests
- One of the places where Hrolfdir’s Shield can turn up, the item Jarl Igmund of Markarth may send you after.
- Also a possible spot for Meridia’s Beacon, which starts The Break of Dawn.
Notable items
- King – Two-Handed skill book in the tower, next to the stone pile.
Tips
Hagravens hit hard with magic, so close the distance fast or pick them off from range before they notice you. Clear the Forsworn first if you can, so you are not juggling arrows from the walls while dancing around a spellcasting bird-woman.
Keep in mind that the shield and the beacon only show up at one of their many possible locations, so the chest here may hold nothing special on your playthrough. The skill book, on the other hand, is a sure thing, so the trip is never wasted.
Because the place is small, it makes a handy detour while travelling west from Rorikstead. Grab the free Two-Handed level from King, check for any quest item you might be hunting, and you’re back on the road before your sweetroll gets cold.
