Eldersblood Peak is a dragon lair on a mountaintop southwest of Morthal. The summit is buried in ice and snow, yet someone long ago carved it flat and added massive stonework and lookout points, giving you a sweeping view all the way to High Hrothgar. A Word Wall dominates the upper platform – which means a dragon is usually close by.
What you’ll find
- Several frost trolls guarding the lair if Dragon Rising is not yet completed.
- Once Dragon Rising is done, most trolls are gone and a leveled dragon claims the peak instead.
- A large Word Wall teaching a word of the Disarm shout.
- A big unlocked chest to the right of the Word Wall and a table with several potions beside one of the staircases.
- Levelled-off stone terraces, stairs and lookout points.
Notable items
- Word Wall: Disarm
- Large chest next to the wall
- Potions on a table near the stairs
Tips
There are several ways up. From Morthal, head southeast and follow paths over a bridge with a waterfall, past a river with two small islands, then climb a winding trail through a hunters’ camp and North Cold Rock Pass to stone stairs at the top. From Rannveig’s Fast on the south side, take the stone stairs to Cold Rock Pass, go through it and climb from the northern exit. You can also cut north-northwest from Drelas’ Cottage through a small forest and hop some boulders onto the trail – but that forest is full of hostile wildlife such as bears, and nobody wants a bear and a dragon at the same time. Determined climbers can also scale the cliffs.
Read the Word Wall once the dragon is down rather than mid-fight; absorbing a soul and learning a word at the same moment has been known to cause trouble.
Good to know
Whoever built up this peak clearly wanted a view: the stone terraces and lookout points make it one of the better sightseeing spots in the region – between dragon attacks, anyway.
