Kjeld is a Nord and the self-declared voice of Kynesgrove. He owns Steamscorch Mine, runs the settlement and makes it clear that anyone doing business in town goes through him. He lives with his wife Iddra, the innkeeper, and their son Kjeld the Younger.

Personality & relationships
Kjeld isn’t a charmer. He calls his townsfolk lazy rabble, blames the lack of good workers on superstition about the dragon tomb above the mine, and claims only he and Roggi do any real work while his wife and kids waste time. His marriage is clearly on the rocks: he keeps taking mysterious “trips”, tells Roggi there are plenty of other women if his wife isn’t happy, and doesn’t care if his jokes upset her.
He is just as subtle as a father, cheering his son on for refusing kitchen chores and for scaring his sister. In the mine he keeps chasing malachite near Dravynea’s wards, and she keeps telling him to back off before a steam vent takes his leg. He also gets the Uriel sisters to sell him timber at a discount.
Good to know
- Steal in Kynesgrove and Kjeld may send hired thugs after you.
- He is on bad terms with Tormir of Darkwater Crossing. Kill her and he sends a letter with a reward; kill him and she does the same.
- Show up as a High Elf in a hooded Thalmor outfit and he attacks on sight.
