General Falx Carius is an Imperial officer haunting the ruins of Fort Frostmoth on Solstheim in Dragonborn. He’s the villain of March of the Dead, and the slight problem is that he should have been dead for a very long time. With pupil-less eyes and a heart stone strapped into his chest, he still commands his fort as if nothing has changed.
Where to find them
He holds the ruins of Fort Frostmoth, the old Imperial fort that once guarded the island, surrounded by an army of Ash Spawn.
Quests
Raven Rock keeps getting hit by Ash Spawn raids. After you find a Declaration of War signed by Carius on one of the creatures’ remains, Captain Veleth recognises the name, points out that the general lived long ago and has no business being alive, and asks you to put an end to him. Kill Carius and the attacks stop.
Personality & relationships
Carius is a soldier through and through, rallying his troops against invaders and loyal to the Empire to the very end. His armor resembles General Tullius’ armor in cut and the Penitus Oculatus armor in colour, with a brace that holds the heart stone in place. His helmet, gauntlets and boots look like standard Imperial gear but are unique pieces named after him, and none of it can be looted normally.
Good to know
Bring your best gear. Carius levels at 1.5 times your level (minimum 25), so he usually outlevels you and soaks up a lot of punishment. He calls in Ash Spawn as soon as he spots you and swings the Champion’s Cudgel, a unique warhammer that can randomly add fire, frost or shock damage, sometimes all three in a single blow. Despite being undead, he shrugs off weapons and spells that only work against the undead. If you kill him before talking to Veleth, you’ll find a letter to the Imperial City on his body.
