Embry is a Nord and the official village drunk of Riverwood. The game lists him as a lumberjack, but the only thing he seems to chop is his drinking budget.
Where to find them
Propping up the bar at the Sleeping Giant Inn or wandering around town looking for someone to buy the next round.
Personality & relationships
Embry is almost always drunk and can’t really afford his habit, so he spends a lot of energy hunting for drinking buddies. He tries to talk Hod into paying for drinks because he is the “important lumber man” – Hod offers him honest work at the mill instead. He orders ale from Orgnar and even tries his luck with Sigrid, who warns him that her husband Alvor will stick his head in the forge.
He is friendly enough when he needs to be, but a proper coward: at the first sign of a fight he runs for it.
Good to know
- Hand him any alcoholic drink to make friends with him.
- Buy him ale and keep on his good side, and he may name you in his will – if he dies, a courier brings you a Letter of Inheritance.
- He has a key to the Sleeping Giant Inn, and if you start a fight there he hides in the secret basement room, even though only Delphine is supposed to know about it.
- Steal from him and he may hire thugs to come after you.
