Dorthe is a young Nord girl in Riverwood, daughter of the village blacksmith Alvor and his wife Sigrid, and cousin of Hadvar. She has appointed herself her father’s apprentice and is counting the days until she gets to forge a real weapon.
Where to find them
Usually at home or hovering around her father’s forge, watching every hammer stroke. She also likes to sit on the bench outside the Sleeping Giant Inn with her best friend Frodnar and his dog Stump, and the two kids play tag or hide-and-seek around the village.
Personality & relationships
Dorthe is convinced she can do anything a boy can, only better. Alvor hasn’t let her near weapons yet, so for now she makes horseshoes and hobnails and keeps pestering him for forge time – he keeps telling her to watch and learn. She asks him if she could ever be as good as Eorlund Gray-Mane, and he assures her she could be the best in Skyrim.
Her mother is less thrilled. Sigrid keeps suggesting gardening, knitting or cooking together, and Dorthe keeps wriggling out of it, which turns into a regular family squabble with poor Alvor begging to be left out of it.
Frodnar sometimes pranks her, but she talks him out of his worst idea: dressing Stump up as a frostbite spider.
Good to know
- Steal from her or harm her family and she may send hired thugs after you.
- If Alvor and Sigrid die, she goes to Honorhall Orphanage and can be adopted (Hearthfire).
