The Exodus is one of Waughin Jarth’s darker short stories. Little Vralla is perfect in every way until she falls desperately ill, and neither the Temples nor the Mages Guild can save her. Her parents, Munthen and Cinneta, turn to hermits and hedge-witches instead, and are pointed toward a place where the hopeless go for a cure. It works – but the last lines make it very clear that the price was not the one they expected.
