The Storage Room is one of the three north-wing choices for a Hearthfire homestead. You can only build it after the Main Hall, and it works the same at Lakeview Manor, Windstad Manor and Heljarchen Hall. If your inventory looks like a dragon’s hoard, this rectangular room gives it somewhere to live. (Hearthfire)
What you’ll find
- Storage galore: two chests, two cupboards, barrels, a dresser, end tables, and a display case with small wardrobe.
- Furniture: a large table with chest, a table with display cases, a washbasin, a tall shelf, a display case with shelf and several sets of wall shelves.
- Trophies: mounted goat head, wolf head and even a mounted mudcrab (2 mudcrab chitin).
- Second-floor porch with benches, low tables and dining sets. It connects to the porches of the Bedrooms and Armory if you build those.
Building costs
The shell takes five stages and 14 sawn logs, 18 quarried stone, 14 nails, 3 clay, 3 iron fittings, 3 locks and 6 hinges. Fully furnished, the room swallows about 49 sawn logs, 73 nails, 16 hinges, 12 iron fittings and 6 locks. The locks need corundum as well as iron, so keep some corundum ingots handy.
Tips
Furnishings can’t be removed once built, so plan before you hammer. A steward can furnish the room for you. The source quotes 1,500 gold in its text and 1,000 in its summary, so bring enough for either. All those chests and hinges eat iron ingots fast, so mining or buying iron first saves trips. Building it in the north wing rules out the other north-wing options such as the Trophy Room, so pick the one you’ll actually use.
