The Pawned Prawn is the general goods store of Riften, run by Bersi Honey-Hand and his wife Drifa. It keeps fairly regular hours – roughly 8 AM to 8 PM, give or take half an hour – and is a natural place to sell off the clutter you’ve hauled out of the Rift’s dungeons. It also plays a role in your first steps with the Thieves Guild.
What you’ll find
- Bersi – the owner, who, according to Drifa, is convinced someone is plotting to take the shop away from them.
- Drifa – his wife and co-owner, who keeps the place running alongside him.
- General merchandise that improves as you level. At level 4 you might find Novice Robes of Illusion or a Steel Sword; by level 16, Apprentice Robes of Conjuration.
- A Dwarven Urn, which only appears once the related Thieves Guild quest has begun.
Quests
Taking Care of Business – one of the Thieves Guild’s opening jobs sends you to lean on Bersi, among others. That Dwarven Urn is not just there for decoration.
Tips
Check back as you level up, since the stock scales with you. Be aware that leaning on Bersi during the Thieves Guild job can occasionally make his trade dialogue disappear, so if he’s your favourite place to sell, finish your shopping first and do the threatening afterwards. The store is also a decent stop for basic weapons and robes early on, before you have the gold for anything fancier. Bersi’s conspiracy theory may sound paranoid, but this is Riften – honestly, he might have a point, and nobody would blame him for counting the stock twice.
Good to know
The shop’s sign is a nod to the classic pawnbroker’s symbol of three balls – and the name is just a good pun.
