Black-Briar Mead

A pricey bottled mead that gives a large burst of Stamina but makes Stamina recover more slowly for half a minute.

Black-Briar Mead is a bottled drink that shares its name with the Black-Briar family of Riften. At 25 gold it is worth five times as much as ordinary Nord Mead, and it weighs less than half as much (0.2 against 0.5), which makes it one of the more valuable drinks to pick up and sell.

Effects

  • Restores 20 Stamina
  • Stamina regenerates 40% slower for 30 seconds

Like other meads, it trades an instant top-up for a short penalty. The burst of 20 Stamina is enough for a sprint or a couple of power attacks, but for the following half minute your bar refills much more slowly than normal. Compared with Nord Mead it restores 5 more Stamina, while the slowdown is stronger (40% instead of 30%) over the same 30 seconds. For sustained fights a Restore Stamina potion has no such drawback.

Where to find it

There is no cooking recipe for it, and the game data used for this page does not name fixed spots or vendors. It turns up as a found drink, and its high value relative to its weight makes it worth carrying to a merchant.
