Fortify Illusion Potions

Fortify Illusion Potions make Illusion spells 25% to 100% stronger for a minute, letting calm, fear and frenzy spells affect tougher foes.

Illusion magic works on the mind, and its spells only hold sway over targets up to a certain strength. Fortify Illusion potions widen that reach. For 60 seconds after drinking, your Illusion spells are between 25% and 100% stronger depending on the tier, so a spell that would fizzle against a powerful enemy might suddenly land. Sneaky mages, crowd controllers and anyone who prefers turning enemies against each other will get the most out of them.

All tiers

Name Effect Value Weight Form ID
Potion of Illusion Illusion spells are 25% stronger for 60 seconds. 99 0.5 0003eb39
Draught of Illusion Illusion spells are 50% stronger for 60 seconds. 212 0.5 0003994f
Philter of Illusion Illusion spells are 75% stronger for 60 seconds. 331 0.5 00039950
Elixir of Illusion Illusion spells are 100% stronger for 60 seconds. 455 0.5 00039951

All four weigh 0.5.

Where to find them

These are standard leveled potions. You will pick them up as loot, see them in the stock of merchants who deal in potions, and find them carried by characters. Higher tiers grow more common as you level up.

Brewing your own

Through the Alchemy skill you can make your own at an alchemy lab. The following ingredients have the Fortify Illusion effect:

Combine any two of them to get the effect. Since each ingredient also carries other properties, a third ingredient can add a second useful effect, as long as it shares one with the others.

Tips

The duration is short, so drink the potion right before casting rather than at the start of a fight.

Where to find it

  • Found as loot throughout Skyrim; the strength of the tier you find is leveled to your character.
  • Sold by vendors who stock potions.
  • Brewed at an alchemy lab with the Alchemy skill.
