Sleeping Tree Sap

Sleeping Tree Sap is a narcotic draught that adds 100 Health for 45 seconds but slows you down and distorts your vision. Ysolda pays well for it.

Sleeping Tree Sap is a strange, narcotic drink tapped from a glowing tree in the wilds of Skyrim. It makes you tougher for a while, but it comes at a price: you move slower and the world turns purple and warped while it lasts. It is classed with skooma as one of the game’s drugs. Ysolda sums it up neatly: it makes you sturdy as a troll, sluggish as a drunk horker, and it sells well.

Effects

  • Health is increased by 100 points for 45 seconds
  • Slows your movement
  • Drugged: purple, distorted vision while the effect lasts

The bottle weighs 0.5 and has a base value of 100 gold. Its form ID is 000AED90.

Where to find it

  • Three bottles in Sleeping Tree Cave: two in a chest and one on the body of Ulag
  • The sap spigot at the base of the glowing tree in Sleeping Tree Camp, usable once per day
  • One bottle in Redwater Den (Dawnguard)
  • Traveling dealers in random encounters who also offer moon sugar and skooma

Related quest

In the quest Ysolda’s Shipment, you find Ulag’s body and read Ysolda’s Message inside Sleeping Tree Cave. After that, Ysolda in Whiterun will buy the sap from you for more than its usual price.

Good to know

The temporary Health boost can carry you through a hard fight, but the slower movement makes it a poor choice when you need to dodge or run. Its in-game description occasionally shows 60 points of Health instead of 100. For the other drugs in the same family, see Skooma.

Where to find it

  • Sleeping Tree Cave: two in a chest, one on Ulag’s body
  • Sap spigot at Sleeping Tree Camp, once per day
  • Redwater Den (Dawnguard)
  • Sold by drug dealers in random encounters

Lore notes

Ysolda describes the sap as making the drinker as healthy as a cave troll and as slow as a drunken horker, and notes that it fetches good coin.
