Hilund is a Nord fighter of the Thirsk Mead Hall, the rowdy Nord lodge on Solstheim (Dragonborn). She hunts, defends the hall and reckons she could take most of the Skaal in a scrap – but she would rather finish her mug of mead than train until she drops, which is why the hall’s hardliner calls her a layabout.
Where to find them
Before you deal with the hall’s troubles you will find her outside Thirsk, among the Nords who were driven out. Afterwards she lives in and around the mead hall.
Quests
- Retaking Thirsk – she is one of the Nords you can bring along to win the hall back from the Rieklings.
- The Chief of Thirsk Hall – on the Riekling side of things, Hilund is one of the people you are sent to kill.
- Hilund’s Spears – she wants to ring the whole hall with Riekling spears as a mocking reminder never to go soft again. Bring her fifty of them.
Follower & marriage
After you hand over the fifty spears, Hilund becomes a marriage candidate. Wear an Amulet of Mara and talk to her as with any other spouse. Be aware that if you refused to back up Bujold’s story and the hall turned on her, Bujold can show up at the wedding, start a fight and make the ceremony fail.
Personality & relationships
Hilund is easy-going and protective. Her big sister is Bujold the Unworthy – something few people realise – and she worries about how hard Bujold takes the blame for losing the hall. She often tries to comfort her, with little success. Bujold’s husband Kuvar is the hall’s loudest complainer; Hilund thinks he should lighten up and challenges him for being so harsh on Elmus, although she privately admits Kuvar has a point about him. If Kuvar ends up banishing Bujold, Hilund is outraged and talks about leaving to roam the wilds with her sister – right after one more mead.
Good to know
Despite all that effort, she never actually mounts the spears on the walls.
