Vale Sabre Cat Hide

Vale Sabre Cat Hide is the Dawnguard sabre cat hide from the Forgotten Vale, tanned into four pieces of Leather.

Vale Sabre Cat Hide (Dawnguard) comes from the pale, spotted sabre cats that stalk the Forgotten Vale, reached during the Dawnguard questline. It is worth only 10 gold and weighs 2, far less than other sabre cat pelts, but it still tans into 4 Leather, so it is much better tanned than sold. The cats themselves are another story: they are tougher than their tundra relatives.

How to get it

Hunt vale sabre cats in the Forgotten Vale. They tend to show up while you are busy with everything else in the Vale, so you will likely collect a few hides without trying. Two loose hides are also placed outdoors near the Vale.

No merchant sells it and no NPC carries it, so once you leave the Vale your stock is fixed. The good news: any ordinary Sabre Cat Pelt gives the same 4 Leather.

Since the Vale is full of other dangers, consider tanning the hides at the first rack you reach back in Skyrim rather than selling them. With 4 Leather per hide, even a handful will cover a full set of light armor.
