Stalhrim

A magical never-melting ice from Solstheim (Dragonborn), mined for Stalhrim weapons and armor with the Ebony Smithing perk.

Stalhrim is enchanted ice that never melts, found only on Solstheim (Dragonborn). It works like ore, but there is no smelting step: the chunks go straight to the forge, where with the Ebony Smithing perk you can make Stalhrim Armor in both heavy and light versions, plus a full set of Stalhrim weapons and arrows. A single chunk is worth 200 gold, which makes it the priciest ore in the game, and it even shows up in improved Bonemold recipes.

How to get it

You cannot just walk up to a deposit and start swinging. You first have to help Skaal blacksmith Baldor Iron-Shaper learn the old technique for working it, which sends you to the Stalhrim Source. Once that is done, you can mine the 20 deposits on the island. The biggest cluster is outdoors near the Stalhrim Source itself, with 10 deposits. Kolbjorn Barrow has 3, Gyldenhul Barrow has 2, and there are 2 more near Northshore Landing. Single deposits are found in Benkongerike, Raven Rock Mine and Bloodskal Barrow.

If you would rather pay, Baldor Iron-Shaper and Morwen sell Stalhrim, but with stock that small you will still end up mining most of what you need.
