Falmer Blood Elixir

Brynjolf’s famous fake miracle cure from Riften’s market. Despite the grand promises, it heals just a single point of Health.

Falmer Blood Elixir is one of Skyrim’s best little jokes. Brynjolf hawks it from a market stall in Riften as a miracle in a bottle, claiming it can give you the strength of a Giant, the passion of a sabre cat, a library’s worth of knowledge in an instant or even regrow a lost limb. During A Chance Arrangement he goes as far as promising godlike power to the gathered crowd. None of it is true.

Effects

The elixir heals the drinker by exactly 1 point of Health. Its in-game description even says it heals “the caster” rather than using the usual restore wording found on ordinary potions. It weighs 0.5 like every potion and is worth just 1 gold.

Where to find it

  • On the nightstand in Haelga‘s bedroom, behind the counter of Haelga’s Bunkhouse in Riften. There is no quest requirement to take it.
  • Items in the bunkhouse respawn over time, so it is possible to collect more than one bottle.
  • The bottles displayed on Brynjolf’s market stand are only decoration and cannot be picked up.

Related quest

The elixir is the centrepiece of Brynjolf’s sales pitch at the start of A Chance Arrangement. Some onlookers, Haelga among them, buy into the pitch, while others mock it as yet another of Brynjolf’s scams or wonder aloud whether it has something to do with Snow Elves.

Good to know

  • The whole sales act works as a nod to classic snake oil: a worthless remedy sold on wild promises.
  • The bottle shares its look with the Elixir of Health and Elixir of Regeneration, which helps sell the illusion.
  • As a healing item it is useless; keep it as a souvenir rather than relying on it in a fight.

Where to find it

  • Nightstand in Haelga’s bedroom, Haelga’s Bunkhouse, Riften (respawns over time)
  • Shown on Brynjolf’s market stall during A Chance Arrangement (display only, cannot be taken)
