Morokei, meaning “Glorious”, is a light dragon priest mask made for spellcasters. Its armor rating of just 5 is easily the lowest of the priest masks, but nobody wears it for protection. The enchantment makes your magicka regenerate 100% faster, which means less time waiting behind a pillar and more time throwing fireballs.
How to get it
The mask comes from the dragon priest Morokei, the final boss of The Staff of Magnus, a quest you get from Savos Aren during the College of Winterhold storyline. The trail leads into Labyrinthian, a sprawling ruin full of draugr, skeletons and nasty surprises. At the very end, Morokei waits in the deepest chamber, and he is a tough caster fight, so come prepared with healing and magic resistance. Defeat him and the mask, along with the Staff of Magnus, is yours.
Is it worth wearing?
For a pure mage, absolutely. Doubling magicka regeneration matters most for concentration spells and long fights where you keep running dry. It stacks with the Altmer racial bonus, the Apprentice Stone and robes with regeneration enchantments, so you can build a character who barely ever runs out. The trade-off is defense: the low armor rating makes it a poor pick for anyone who gets hit a lot. Compare it with Nahkriin, which gives a bigger magicka pool and cheaper Destruction and Restoration spells; which one is better depends on whether you want more magicka or faster recovery. It is tempered with
Refined Moonstone, and smithing perks for that material help keep its thin defense from becoming a liability.
Good to know
- It is one of the eight masks needed at the Bromjunaar shrine, also inside Labyrinthian, to unlock Konahrik.
- According to players, the enchantment was meant to also shorten shout cooldowns, but that part does not work.
