Witchmist Grove

Hagraven Moira's grisly hut north of Bonestrewn Crest, ringed by a fence of animal heads – home to a skill book and the ring from A Night to Remember.

Witchmist Grove is a small clearing south of Windhelm and north of Bonestrewn Crest, where a hagraven named Moira has made her home. You can’t miss it: the house is surrounded by a defensive fence decorated with animal heads, which is about as clear a “keep out” sign as Skyrim gets.

What you’ll find

  • Moira, the hagraven who lives here.
  • A fence of animal heads circling the house.
  • A grim interior of bones, animal parts and blood splatters – though the bed is still usable if you’re not picky.
  • A chest hidden under the outside stairs.
  • Seven hagraven feathers spread around the grove.

Quests

A Night to Remember – in the aftermath of this Daedric quest, the wedding ring you need to recover is found here.

Notable items

  • Response to Bero’s Speech – Destruction skill book, under the bed
  • The outdoor chest, which may contain Meridia’s Beacon
  • Hagraven feathers (seven in total)

Tips

Hagravens are spellcasters, so it pays to close the distance quickly rather than trade blows from afar. Once Moira is down, check under the bed for the skill book and under the stairs for the chest before leaving.

The grove also has a clever tactical use: lure giants or mammoths from the nearby camps here. The fence and the narrow doorway of the hut make it hard for those big creatures to reach you, so you can pick them off with relative safety.

Good to know

The grove never stays empty for long – a new witch moves in roughly every ten in-game days, so it’s a dependable source of hagraven feathers if your alchemy needs them.
