Deep Folk Crossing is an old Dwemer bridge north of Markarth, close to Bthardamz, southwest of Mor Khazgur and west of Bruca’s Leap Redoubt, not far from the border with High Rock. It’s a landmark rather than a dungeon, but it has history, a small shrine and a couple of quest objects worth a visit.
What you’ll find
- A great Dwemer bridge and a handful of surrounding ruins.
- A Dwemer shrine, usually holding a Dwarven Helmet and a leveled weapon.
- A Dwemer Convector on the far side of the bridge, waiting for someone with a quest to come and collect it.
Quests
- Arniel’s Endeavor – Arniel Gane needs a Dwemer Convector, and you’ll find one on the other side of the bridge.
- Lost to the Ages (Dawnguard) – one of four places where an Aetherium Shard can be found.
Tips
Since it’s nearby, combine a trip here with Bthardamz or a visit to Mor Khazgur. Check the shrine for the helmet and weapon before crossing, then walk across to collect your quest item.
The convector and the shard are quest objects, so they only matter once the relevant quest is running – but nothing stops you from scouting the crossing early and enjoying the view down the gorge.
If you can’t find the place on your map, keep an eye out for two kids on the road – see below.
Good to know
This used to be the Dwemer city of Bthar-zel, a name said to mean “allied city” – today little remains besides the bridge. “Deep Folk” is itself a translation of “Dwemer”, though it’s unclear whether the name means anything beyond where the bridge came from.
In a random encounter you can meet two children, Sond and Bottar, who will mark this location on your map for a small fee. Enterprising kids.
