Vilkas’s Sword is the Skyforge Steel blade you carry to the forge on your very first day with the Companions.
How you get it
When you ask Kodlak Whitemane to join, he sends you out to spar with Vilkas in the yard behind Jorrvaskr. Land a few hits and Vilkas asks you to take his sword to Eorlund Gray-Mane at the Skyforge to be sharpened – part of Take Up Arms.
Keeping it
- Once Vilkas can be your follower, open his inventory and take it.
- Or pickpocket it from Eorlund after delivering it.
Stats
A standard Skyforge Steel Sword: 11 damage, 10 weight. Steel Ingot; benefits from Steel Smithing.
Fun quirk: carry it alongside another Skyforge Steel Sword and its name changes to “Skyforge Steel Sword” until the other one leaves your inventory.
