The Silver Sword looks modest – it is noticeably smaller than most one-handed swords and has just 8 base damage – but it carries a built-in grudge. Against undead such as draugr, skeletons, ghosts, vampires and raised corpses it deals 20 extra damage, and werewolves and werebears get the same treatment.
It is the weapon of the Silver Hand, the werewolf hunters who clash with the Companions. Outside any smithing tier, it cannot be forged or tempered, but it is a sharp specialist for tomb crawlers and vampire hunters.

- Carried almost exclusively by members of the Silver Hand – met often during Companions quests such as The Silver Hand.
- Silver Hand strongholds: Driftshade Refuge and Gallows Rock, plus some unexplored bandit lairs for Companions members.
- On the shelf above the Vampire Royal Armor in Castle Volkihar.
- Inside Ironback Hideout Cellar.
Crafting and upgrading
This weapon cannot be crafted at a forge – you have to find, loot or buy it.
It cannot be improved at a grindstone.

Tips and notes
- The anti-undead bonus is not an enchantment, so you can enchant the sword as well and the two stack.
- A Silver Sword or Silver Greatsword is required to craft enchanted Daedric weapons at the Atronach Forge.
- It cannot be crafted or improved at a grindstone.
- Several bugs involve duplicating swords, e.g. dropping multiple silver swords on PC.
