The Iron Mace is about as basic as weapons get: a heavy lump of iron on a stick. It deals 9 base damage, weighs 13 and swings slower than a sword, but it gets the job done when the job is hitting things very hard.
Iron is the bottom rung of Skyrim’s material tiers, so this mace is among the first weapons you can lay hands on. It goes nicely with Iron Armor for that true fresh-out-of-Helgen look.

Tips and notes
- No Smithing perk is needed to forge it: three
iron ingots and two
leather strips will do. - Improve it with an iron ingot at a grindstone; no perk boosts the improvement.
- The Lunar Iron Mace is a variant of this weapon.
