The Weynon Stones are a circle of megalithic stones south of Dawnstar, just northwest of Korvanjund. At the centre stands a Shrine of Talos, surrounded by offerings left by the faithful. It is a quiet, atmospheric spot – or it would be, if it weren’t for the ice wraiths that treat the place as their personal skating rink.
What you’ll find
- A ring of standing stones with a Shrine of Talos inside.
- Two or three ice wraiths patrolling the area.
- Offerings at the base of the shrine, including a broken steel battleaxe you can’t pick up, two steel ingots and a pair of iron gauntlets.
- A large altar opposite the shrine with a burial urn beside it.
- A novice-locked chest with minor loot behind that stone.
Notable items
- Two steel ingots and iron gauntlets among the offerings.
- Burial urn and a novice-locked chest – nothing spectacular, but free is free.
Tips
Ice wraiths are fast, hard to see against the snow and hit with frost, so fire spells or fire-enchanted weapons work wonders here. Keep moving and swing when they surface rather than chasing them around the circle. Once they’re down, collect their Ice Wraith Teeth – useful for alchemy. The chest only needs a novice lockpick, so even a fresh character can open it. If you’re heading to Korvanjund, it’s a short walk away, which makes this a neat stop on the way to or from that tomb. Whether helping yourself to the offerings counts as bad manners toward Talos is between you and your conscience.
