Angeline’s Aromatics is the alchemy shop of Solitude, and the guards will point you here whenever you need potions. It is a small place – a single room with a counter, walls stacked with ingredients and bottles – with the owners’ living quarters upstairs. Small, but packed with exactly what an alchemist wants, and right in the middle of the city, so it is easy to pop in between errands.
What you’ll find
- Angeline Morrard – the apothecary who runs the shop.
- Vivienne Onis – her niece and assistant.
- A large selection of potions and ingredients for sale.
- An Alchemy Lab you can use.
- A cooking place in the back room.
- Bedrooms on the upper floor where Angeline and Vivienne live.
Quests
No News is Good News – Angeline asks you to speak with Captain Aldis, usually found outside Castle Dour, about her daughter, who served in an Imperial regiment posted in Whiterun. The news is not good. There is no gold reward for bringing it, but afterwards Angeline lets you take certain items from the shop without it counting as theft – a quietly generous thank-you, and a rare quest in Skyrim that is more about kindness than combat.
Notable items
- The Great War
- The Real Barenziah, Book II
- The Real Barenziah, Book IV
- The Wolf Queen, Book III – on a bookshelf in one of the upstairs bedrooms.
Tips
Do the quest early if you brew a lot: free pickings from an alchemist’s shelves are worth far more than a pouch of coin. The on-site lab means you can buy ingredients and mix them on the spot, which saves a lot of walking around the city. Light-fingered visitors will notice that plenty of stock is lying within reach – but the quest route is the version that doesn’t end in a cell.
