Rift Imperial Camp

Imperial Legion war camp south of Ivarstead under Legate Fasendil, with a quartermaster selling gear to neutral or Imperial-aligned Dragonborn.

Rift Imperial Camp is a military encampment of the Imperial Legion south of Ivarstead. It’s one of the Legion’s field camps for the Civil War, a cluster of tents, soldiers and a commander’s table full of battle plans. If you’re fighting for the Empire, or simply staying out of the war, it’s a useful place to stock up.

What you’ll find

  • Legate Fasendil, the officer in charge of the camp.
  • An Imperial Quartermaster who sells weapons and armor – but only if you’re neutral or allied with the Legion.
  • A complement of Imperial soldiers.
  • The Legate’s tent with a war table and map.

Quests

The camp is tied into the Civil War questline, including Reunification of Skyrim, which can bring you here on Legion business.

Tips

The soldiers here are a handy free resource: if you’re dealing with the bandits at the nearby Ruins of Bthalft, the Legionaries may pitch in and help clear them out. Lure the bandits toward the camp and let the professionals earn their pay. Since the quartermaster sells both weapons and armor, it’s also worth swinging by whenever you’re in the area and short on decent gear, especially early in a playthrough. If you’ve sided with the Stormcloaks, don’t count on a friendly welcome or the quartermaster’s stock – shopping here is a perk of loyalty (or of having no opinion at all).

Good to know

After the Empire wins the war, the flags in Legate Fasendil’s tent may keep floating in mid-air where the map table used to be. Consider it a monument to Imperial bureaucracy: the paperwork is gone, but the markers stay.
