Damphall Mine

Reaver-infested mine on western Solstheim with forge, smelter and alchemy lab, ending in a master-locked treasure room guarded by a Reaver Lord.

Damphall Mine is a mine on Solstheim, added with the Dragonborn expansion, on the western side of the island north of Raven Rock. Despite the name, there is not much actual mining to be done here. What it does have is a sizeable gang of Reavers, a surprisingly well-stocked workshop and a locked treasure room for whoever survives the trip to the bottom.

What you’ll find

  • Reavers throughout: one outside the entrance, two just inside, two at the alchemy lab past the first pool, two on a stone bridge, one guarding a metal gate past the wood chopping block, two in the big cavern with the anvil and smelter, and three more on the walkways after it.
  • One more Reaver before the pull chain, then two Reavers and a Reaver Lord in the final room.
  • A master-locked treasure room with leveled loot. The Reaver Lord carries the Treasure Room Key.
  • Crafting stations: alchemy lab, tanning rack, smelter, anvil and forge, plus a wood chopping block.
  • A few mining prospects, including silver ore.

Quests

Damphall Mine is a possible location for a long list of radiant and miscellaneous objectives: Amulet of the Moon (for Kharjo), Ancient Power, Ancient Technology, Hunting the Monster, Lost Relic, Preemptive Strike and Rings of Blood Magic (all Dawnguard), plus Fetch Me That Book! and Shalidor’s Insights.

Notable items

  • Treasure Room Key (from the Reaver Lord) and the treasure room’s leveled loot.
  • Possible location of Meridia’s Beacon.
  • Possible location of the Moon Amulet.

Tips

Count on around sixteen Reavers plus their Lord, spread out in small groups – that makes it ideal for picking them off one by one rather than charging in. The large cavern with the anvil and smelter is the busiest spot, with walkways above you, so clear it carefully. Kill the Reaver Lord before you go looking for the treasure room; picking a master lock is a lot harder than looting a key off a corpse. The forge and alchemy lab make a handy pit stop on the way out.
