Azura’s Star is the space inside the artifact Azura’s Star, and the prison of necromancer Malyn Varen’s soul. You can only go there during the Daedric quest The Black Star, and you have to step inside a soul gem to get there.
What you’ll find
- Walls made of white, soul-gem-like crystal streaked with black residue, surrounded by floating crystals and shimmering clouds.
- A honeycomb-patterned walkway. It looks like a long drop, but invisible walls keep you from falling off.
- Dremora guarding the way, with Malyn Varen waiting at the end.
Quests
In The Black Star, either Nelacar or Azura sends you into the Star. Beat Malyn Varen, purify the Star and you can leave. Which ally sends you in decides whether you walk away with Azura’s Star or the Black Star.
Notable items
- Three Daedra hearts.
Tips
Don’t leave without the Daedra hearts. They’re pricey and rare. The invisible walls protect you but not the Dremora, so a good shove can send one over the edge.
Good to know
The deep purple shafts in the central crystal may represent Malyn’s black soul. The game treats the realm as part of the Shrine of Azura or The Frozen Hearth, depending on who sent you in.
